How Fat Bob’s Garage came to be…..

For our first blog post I thought i would start with a pretty simple and commonly asked question, “How did Fat Bob’s Garage get started and where did the name come from?”

Simply enough it started in the current owner and operators garage in Kaysville Utah. After growing tired of the normal job market he decided to turn his love of Jeeps into a small business. The first order of business was to come up with a catchy name that people would love and remember, and after remembering a T-shirt his brother had in highschool Bill realized that Fat Bob’s Garage was perfect!! Honestly when you think of offroading and truck accessories doesn’t it just sound right to say that your headed down to Fat Bob’s to pick up a lift kit?

After the name had been decided, Bill began making contact with vendors and manufacturers in the industry, setting up accounts, buying his product and learning more and more along the way. In 2005  Fat Bob’s Garage opened up a store on eBay and started selling parts at a price that was affordable for the average enthusiast. It wasn’t long after the Ebay store was started that there was a need for an actual store front where our local customers could pick up their parts. FBG (if you can’t figure out what that stands for you need some help) moved into a very small building in Ogden Utah allowing us to have not only a store front where customers could grab their parts, but we now had a hoist allowing installs to be possible. Aaron Hawes took the job as mechanic installing lifts, leveling kits, and accessories. FBG soon had  6 full-time employees and was rapidly growing, bringing on more products, with more products came more customers, and more installs which means we needed more employees. We were out of room in our small shop. We literally had multiple storage units full of parts, the warehouse portion of our shop was full and our sales area was full of employee’s, we needed more room!!!!! Bill and Justin, (our accountant and one of the people who was there since the beginning of FBG) began searching for a building that could meet our demands.  Not long after the search began we found a building that was perfect for us, our current locations 1950 Washington Boulevard, Ogden Utah 84401.

That pretty much brings us up to the present time, same location, some employees have stuck around and built a huge customer base and friendship amongst each other, others have moved on. We have quite a few new faces around here so if you haven’t been in to shop in a while, or never been here before, swing in, check out what we’ve got lying around, employee project and grab some parts for your personal rig while you’re here.

We are alway happy to meet fellow enthusiasts.

See you on the trail, roads and drag strips!
